Big Bend is an interesting area and probably the prettiest region in Texas.  Okay, that’s not saying much but it is quite nice and different from many of the places I’ve been to.  I grew up in the High Desert of Central Oregon and have driven through most of the the deserts in the Western US.  The mountains in the middle of the park are like a little oasis in the desert – in more ways that one.
