I took a trip to Big Bend National Park in the spring. It’s about a 10 hour drive from the Dallas/Ft Worth area. A really beautiful place – mostly desert, but there are some high pine areas and of course the little green belt along the Rio Grande.
The Fort Worth Nature Preserve – I lived in Fort Worth for seven years and never visited the park. Nice place for a hike and it’s just outside of town. We didn’t see the buffaloes, but we saw a copperhead. Unusual for the beginning of January. Here is an infrared picture of the Lake Worth shoreline.
