Along old Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona, there is the Wigwam Motel where the rooms are shaped like teepees. This was immortalized in the Pixar movie “Cars” where the rooms were shaped like traffic cones. I was lucky to catch a nice sunrise when I was passing through there.

Just south of Yakima, Washington in the town of Zillah, there is a side attraction off of a well-preserved old gas station where the main building is in the shape of a teapot. All of the times I’ve passed by the sign on the freeway I never took the time to stop. This time and I did and I was not disappointed. Really just a cute little window into the past of someone who decided to be different with their gas station building.

I decided to try out my new Infrared camera for fun.

I attended a conference at MIT and they have some really funky buildings on campus. I guess when you let engineers go wild you end up with stuff like this.

So if you’re ever in Boston, I can highly recommend a walk across campus.

Okay, I love old cars. Classically restored, hopped up, rusted, I don’t care. As someone who had to rebuild the engine on a Pinto Station wagon at age 16 that his older sister burned up, just so I could have my first car, I appreciate anyone that can keep an old car running.

Every summer the town of Lynden, Washington, they have a Raspberry Festival. They close off the downtown area and have food booths, basketball tournaments and a Car Show. People from all over the Pacific Northwest and Canada bring their old cars for display. Not only is there a lot of cars for a relatively small festival, many of them are very well done.

So classic cars and fantastic raspberry treats (the raspberry cream stuffed donuts are to die for) and it makes for a great afternoon.
